Four score and seven years ago, this country was founded on the ideals of freedom, equality, and reverence of life. Today, we have grown into a nation that thrives on the media. We live on the lives of celebrities, judging them, praising them, and mimicking them. Roles models consist of those who do good occasionally, especially when it is popular to be charitable. Our music has been perverted into obscene subliminal lyrics not meant to move the body and soul, but to put down morals and hard work and lift up street gangs, sex and violence.
America, where we eat ourselves into early graves with fast food franchises; America, where hypocrisy is common and expected; America, where the dollar sign is respected more than the cross. Where families disrespect each other, fight, and break apart. Where adults control conception and abort their children. Where teens have everything that is supposed to make them happy, but still hold the highest suicidal rate in the world. Where children are taught to not stare, not point, not help, and not care. Where apathy has become everyone’s shadow, and a deadly killer.
Where a nation based on ideal perfection has mutated into a gold-plated mask for the face of corruption.
Yes, God bless America indeed.
